Zeeva (Ch Diotima's Heart Of Gold) rejoined our family here in the UK in 2010. Zeeva went out to America in May 2008 to become part of Pat and Richard McDonald's family (Chelsic Bearded Collies). Due to very serious family illness, the decision was made by Pat and Richard to ask that she come back to the UK to be shown and have puppies. We are honoured to have her join our family and carry out Pat and Richard's brave and unselfish wishes. Zeeva has the most wonderful character. Before she left for America, at the young age of just 10 weeks Zeeva went to visit Barbara Iremonger (Sunbree Beardies) and her mum, Joan. At the time Joan was recovering from health problems and despite her tender age Zeeva seemed to sense that she had to be gentle and snuggled up close to Joan and didn't move. What we didn't realise at the time was that this sensitive, gentle character trait would continue into adulthood and Zeeva has been a registered therapy dog in the United States. For over a year now Zeeva has regularly visited a hospital and veterans centre in the local area.
Part of Zeeva's testimonial is as follows:-
"Patients, visitors and staff have all commented about Zeeva's disposition. Her demeanour is gentle and relaxed, and it is evident that she enjoys her visits as much as the patients do! I have felt comfortable and confident each and every time she has come to the facility. I have no concern introducing Zeeva to patients, staff members or visitors, including children. She is respectful of people, is not easily distracted or disturbed, and has little fear of wheelchairs, hospital beds, and the like. Our patients are always excited to see Zeeva walking through the halls. Visitors and even staff are eager to see her! Patients have commented that they feel more relaxed after spending time petting Zeeva. She has a calming effect on our facility as a whole." (This endorsement is signed by the hospital's Recreation Therapist).
We are looking forward to many happy years with Zeeva. Her superb temperament is a tribute to her breeding but most of all to the wonderful way she has been brought up by Pat and Richard.
